Mini Pet suggestion
Wouldnt it be a good idea for all GW players to be treated equally when it comes to those freebie minipets in magazines.
I notice pc Gamer is giving one away on the 25th of Sep, now when the asura pet was given away the release date of magazines meant that some lucky players had them days even weeks before others. Would it be so hard for the codes to activate on the same day ie when all countries had published their various magazines. Love them or hate them its just a question of treating all players with equal respect. |

Ok first of all it's not a normal issue of PC gamer, it's a special Guild Wars edition only for North America, price at 10 USD.
Second of all, it's NCSoft and the publisher in your country that'll decide if they will or will not do the promotion give away. Hence the different between US, EU and the far-east. |

I think you missed the point Etta. The OP is suggesting that no matter where the code is obtained, they won't activate until a specific date. That would ensure that everybody around the world would be getting their fancy new minipets on the same day. I like the idea personally.

It's a great idea. You should post it here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...splay.php?f=19

Thezed, did you even read the suggestion? Trolls...
It is a good one actually. Galie herself was surprised that the Destroyer mini was in the game (since according to her, the magazine wasn't out for another week). Surely, a.net could make it so the codes only work once the magizine goes live at least. |

No I Think The Original Is Best, Have It So That All Codes Go Live A Day Or Two After The Last Mag Gets Published. It's Fairer That Way.

Thanks for the input
I don't mind first come first served and the Uk usually comes fairly early in the magazine/minipet stakes. But if one country is weeks behind the first one it gets depressing for several reasons. 1 you see people with the new pet and interminable questions flood the chat asking where they came from "kinda like the when is the emperor coming Qs though not as bad" 2 you see people selling "or trying to sell" them for inflated prices then a week later when you try to sell yours you fail. Its all about being seen to be fair and not allowing the perception that one country is getting something you are not. additional Now I know the pc gamer is a special American deal I am really annoyed. It is an international game so ok give the Americans a special pet and then give the Uk their own and so on. Then pet trading will really take off since each country will have a resource others do not. and that plea for a fair deal is the nearest you get to an outright complaint from me. David |

I'll agree. First come first serve is for chow lines, not something like player access.

The suggestion is basicly a complaint that some people, due to companies selling the mag before they were supposed to (something out of Anet/NCSoft's hands), were able to get the Destroyer mini before others. And while this in no way effects gameplay or other players ability to get the said mini, the OP does not thing this is "fair". To cover for this complaint the OP makes the suggestion to lock out keys so they can not be activated, or you cant recieve the item from them, untill after a specific time. While this suggestion is not a bad one, Anet did it with the Gray Giant, it is clear from the timing of the suggestion and the OP directly mentioned the Destroyer mini "issue" that this is YACVS. |

first of all i'm an old guy 57 and have no idea what YACVS means "I managed OP" not quite senile.
My line of thought and reason for posting the idea came this way and was never intended as a complaint. Saw the posting about the special edition PC Gamer anouncing a new minipet and the release date of 28th Sept in the US. I thought back to the Asura minipet release and remembered the differing dates of magazine release and some people mentioning that there was no magazine offer at all in their country "think this was Australia or NZ" Then watched for a week as people started showing off their asura pet while we in the UK were still waiting for the magazine to hit the shops. Decided at that point to ask for fair treatment of all people, if that is a complaint in some eyes then so be it. If people who contribute every bit as much as others in the world are treated less fairly than others if that is a complaint then maybe a complaint is warranted. please add to the reasons why or why not have a standard release date rather than detracting from the discussion by working out what my motives might have been for posting. Respectfully David |

Just seen there will be a European minipet release so while the US gets the destroyer Exclusive to them europeans get a random minipet and it seems the US doesnt get a look in at all.
Which in some way evens things out and may be what Arenanet intended all along. Note the release dates differ and some Europeans get them on different dates and its not a case of people releasing magazines early just that not every computer magazine comes out on the same date in different countries. * UK: PC Gamer 180 (27th September) and PC Zone 187 (11th October) * Spain: Micromania 152 - 154 (31st August, 1st October, 31st October) * Italy: The Games Machine 226 (15th September) * Germany: Gamestar ???Offical Guild Wars Magazine??? (28th September) * France: PC Jeux ???Official Guild Wars Magazine??? (no date given - same as the above?) * Sweden: Super Play and PC Gamer (no issue numbers, but 25th September and 2nd October respectively) * Netherlands: PC Gameplay 167 - 168 (28th August and 27th September) The full list of minipets (not in order of rarity as far as I???m aware, it doesn???t say anything apart from Vizu being really, really rare): * Grawl * Longhair Yeti * Naga Raincaller * Oni * Vizu * Shiroken Assassin * Zhed Shadowhoof |
